Meet Our Speakers

Attention readers! Mya, here with some very exciting news. Here’s the first look at some of our 2019 Youth Leadership Seminar speakers. We can’t wait for our students to hear from these incredible leaders.

Up first…

Damian Hoskins

YLS SPEAKERS (2)Damian is the Vice President for Arts Impact for ArtsWave, the Cincinnati region’s planner, promoter and fundraiser for the arts. Working closely with business, civic and arts stakeholders, he helps ArtsWave advance its 10-year Blueprint for Collective Action. As a Cincinnati native, Damian strives to give back to his community by working closely with partners such as Strive Partnership and the Hamilton County Community Action Agency to achieve sustainable outcomes for the city. Most recently he served as the Director of Community Programming for Mercy Health. We’re super excited to hear from such an inspiring leader! Our next speaker is…

Chris Tuell

YLS SPEAKERS (3)As Clinical Director of Addiction Services at the Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Tuell provides mental health and addiction psychotherapy services for residential and outpatient programs. With over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health and addictions, he is a clinical psychotherapist and a chemical and behavioral addiction specialist. Before joining Linder Center of HOPE, Dr. Tuell provided supervision of all administrative and clinical components of a mental health/substance abuse counseling center at Family Service of the Cincinnati Area. He also served as Clinical Director of the Warren County Juvenile Justice Center and as a psychotherapist for Community Mental Health Centers of Warren County in Lebanon, Ohio and Mental Health Services West in Cincinnati, Ohio. We’re looking forward to hearing his words of wisdom on October 9th.

James Buss

YLS SPEAKERSDr. James Buss is the Dean of the Honors College at Northern Kentucky University. He serves on the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC)’s Assessment and Evaluations Committee, as well as their Advocacy Committee. In 2017, he was elected to the Board of Directors for NCHC. He is also the author of “Winning the West with Words: Language and Conquest in the Lower Great Lakes” (2011) and co-editor of “Beyond Two Worlds: Critical Conversations on Language and Power in Native North America” (November 2014). Dr. Buss continues to work toward the advancement of scholarship on Native American and indigenous issues and has even appeared on NPR, C-Span 2’s “Book TV” and Zócolo Public Square to speak about his work. We can’t wait to hear from such an empowering leader!
